Sperryville Carnival
Prize Winners
Sperryville Fire Department announces the prize winners named at the conclusion of the annual carnival which closed Saturday night. Lawrence K. Jenkins of Elkwood was awarded the car, a 1969 Ford; John F. Jennings of Sperryville got the $50 Savings Bond; Mrs. Cecil Baldwin, also of Sperryville was given the $25 Bond; the walnut chair went to James Bushrod of Middleburg; and Jimmy Lillard won the auto battery; J. F. Stovall of Culpeper gets the $10 worth of groceries and the case of motor oil went to Granville Frazier of The Plains.
The officers and members of the Sperryville Fire Company expressed appreciation to everyone who took part in making the carnival a big success. The coming year, the 1970 carnival dates will be scheduled for July 8, 9, 10 and 11. This is being done to avoid conflicting dates of other carnivals and parades.
May Rummage
Sale* Net $435.10
The Rummage Sales which were held during the month of May for the benefit of Washington Fire Company and Rappahannock Rescue Squad cleared $435.10, an increase over last year of $105.10. Mrs. W. B. Jenkins, assisted by Mrs. Mary Burke and Mrs. Charles Burke operated the May sales each Thursday and Friday. The sales were extremely successful and all merchandise was sold. Mrs. Jenkins regrets that she will be unable to be chairman for future sales.
