Mary B. Bruce
Miss Mary Browning Bruce ofCulpeper, died Friday, December 5, 1969 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital. A native and former resident of Rappahannock County, she had lived in Culpeper for the past 10 years. She was 78.
Miss Bruce was a graduate of Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. She taught elementary school in Rappahannock County for a total of 49Vi years, first at Mount Salem School and later at Forest Grove School, Viewtown, where she was principal. She owned and operated a farm at Laurel Mills.
She is survived by a foster son, Melvin O. Williams of Culpeper, whom she raised from early childhood, and a number of cousins.
A funeral service was held Sunday at Forest Grove Baptist Church at Viewtown with burial in the church cemetery. The Rev. John Gabbert conducted the service, assisted by the Rev. John Hodge.
Pallbearers were George Blankenbaker, Elmer Jenkins, William Printz, Cletus Printz, Theodore C. Barron and Menefee Utz.
