Xmas Tree Fires
BLACKSBURG-The joy of the Christmas season will tum to dust for the families of the 80 to 90 people who are expected to die from Christmas tree fires this /ear. The National Safety Council makes this estimate and adds that untold numbers will probably be injured or made homeless by such fires. A Christmas tree can be a serious fire hazard unless proper care is taken.
And yet, it is easy to take the precautions that render your cut Christmas tree safe and enjoyable, said William A. McElfresh, extension forestry specialist at Virginia Tech.
