A funeral service for Mrs. Mary Wayland of Castleton was held Monday, December 29, at 1 p.m. at Geest Funeral Chapel in Culpeper with burial in Woodville Cemetery. The Rev. B. Gale Titchenell conducted the service.
Mrs. Wayland, 76, widow of Henry Gordon Wayland, died Friday, December 26, 1969 at Holy Cross Hospital at Silver Spring, Md. She was a native of Rappahannock County, daughter of late Silas and Annie Taylor Bruce.
She is survived by three sons, Henry Gordon Wayland, jr. of Castleton, Edward Hill Wayland of Woodbridge, and Reginald B. Wayland of Annandale; five daughters, Mrs. William Wood of Las Cruces, N.M. Mrs. T. W. McChesney of Sandston, Mrs. Harry Imbach of Rockville, Md., Mrs. John Hyman and Mrs. 'William Blalock, both of Silver Spring, Md.; twenty-one grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Charlie Bruce of Washington, Va., Bryant Bruce of Fayettesville, N.C., Robert Bruce and Benny Bruce, both of Front Royal; and three sisters, Mrs. Nina Brown of Sperryville, Mrs. Annie Griffith of Falls Church and Mrs. Virginia Fratter of Hollywood, Calif.
Pallbearers were H.B. Wood, jr., George Hale, Scott Wayland, Bruce Imbach, Haywood Griffith, Ray Lee Knighting, Jim Doolittle and J.T. Woodward, Jr.
