Traffic Crashes

Several traffic crashes have occurred in the county in the past week. A truck overturned on Route 522 Sunday evening when it swerved to avoid a horse in the lighway. No damage or injuries resulted. The truck was owned by r. M. Triplett, Castleton. On January 15 at 1:20 p.m. just east of Washington on Route 211 two trucks were involved in a collision. Robert Franklin Greene operating a 67 Chevrolet van truck owned by Schmidt’s Baking Company, Inc. of Martinsburg, W. Va. and a 68 Chevrolet pickup owned and operated by Leonard Ward Gisiner jr. of Roanoke ran together. Gisiner was attempting to cross the highway and turn into a driveway when he was struck by the oncoming bread truck. Gisiner was charged with failing to yield the right of way. Greene sustained a bruise chest and possible internal injuries. Tuesday afternoon on Route 522 in Woodville Mrs. Myra Wolf of Woodville driving a 62 Chevrolet station wagon and a 66 Plymouth operated by Warren Lee Smith of Sperryville collided. Damage was estimated at $200 to each vehicle.
