Does confession have a place in the Protestant church today? According to George William Bowman III, the time has come for serious evaluation of confession and renewal of it. In “The Dynamics of Confession” (John Knox Press) he emphasizes that valid confession must be both theologically and psychologically sound.
Bowman inquires into the need for and value of functional confession to Protestants and shares practical suggestions for its implementation. His topics include aims for confession, necessary attitudes in the minister and person confessing, cautions to be observed, and the further prospects for confession in theological education, clinical training, pastoral counseling centers, and local workshops for ministers.
