Now that the holidays are past and the snow -hopefully-won’t keep folks housebound, the Library looks forward to a progressive year and increased volume of business. The Children’s Hour on Saturday mornings will continue. Volunteer readers for age groups pre-school to about 7, and 8 to 12 are still needed, on a regular or intermittent basis. Won’t you make it one of your New Year’s resolutions to help out in this satisfying manner?

Santa did not leave an automatic record player-did you get a new stereo system for Christmas? If so, and you have your old automatic, it would be giving a great deal of pleasure to the children at the Library. Some records, such as Prokofieff’s “Peter and the Wolf” and Dukas’ “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”, are available already and more will be added. Small children learn to love good music by listening to such records.

Recent additions to the shelves Mr. Sammler’s Planet, by Saul Bellow, author of “Herzog”

The Firedwellers, by Margaret Laurence Garbo, by Norman Zierold

Goodbye, Columbus and 5 other stories, by Philip Roth (for which he won the Literary Fellowship Award)
