Cold Outside
Weather really is no longer news for the cold and snow have become a standard part ol everyday living. However, it is still the most talked about thing that I know.
Since the foot of snow fell Christmas Day, the ground has tyeen, partially, covered since, though much of that initial percipitation blew off fields and into drifts leaving much bare ground. On January 7 the official weather gauge at Washington, Va. measured .24 of snow (measured as water after melting) and .36 inches of rain on January 18. Last night’s snow only measured .12 (melted) but this is not accurate because the gale winds did not allow a reliable record. Temperatures have been low and expected lower. As of Wednesday afternoon, two mornings had recorded temperatures of 5 degrees below zero at the official thermometer.
