RCHS Panthers Win
One; Drop One
The Rappahannock Panthers got off to a flying start with the opening of baseball season when they met the Elks at Elkton and walked off with an 8-1 win. This victory was especially gratifying for the Panthers since they were shut out in the win department last year. Maury Nichols, the winning pitcher for the Panthers, threw a three hitter, striking out twelve and walking one. The Panthers bowed to Madison High on the Madison diamond on Monday. Final talley in that game was 18-6. The first inning was a crusher for Madison who scored 14 runs with 19 men at bat. The remainder of the game saw the Panthers outscore Madison 6-4; however, the initial inning had been fatal.
