Buffet Dinner
Mrs. Gladys Woodard, Mrs. Shirley Frye, Mrs. Effie Settle, Mrs. Josie Patterson and Mr. and Mrs. Gibson Wharton entertained at a buffet dinner at Hampton Inn on Tuesday of last week with the following guests: Mrs. Paul Miller, Mrs. Frank Spalding, Mrs. Lewis Turner, Mrs. Elmo Flynt, Mrs. Lee Thornton, Mrs. Thurmond Lea, Mrs. Wade H. Massie, Jr., Mrs. Charles Hitt, Mrs. Harold Scoggin, Miss Ellen Mustoe, Mrs. Harry Lee Smith, Mrs. James P. Leake, jr. and Mrs. Mary Quaintance.
One of the guests expressed the feelings of the whole group in a poem which she composed and sent to'the host and hostesses.
“On March the 30th, we went to a party Which made us feel so warm and hearty To know that our friends at the Hampton Inn Had honored us and made us “kin” Such a scrumptious meal you’ve never seen It was really a feast fit for a Queen We ate and ate and had such a good time, That’s why I’m writing this little rhyme To give you our thanks for being so sweet And letting us eat and eat and eat. We do appreciate the thought and the food It made us feel so very goode.
