Roy Bayliss, Camping & Activities Chairman for the Shenandoah Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, has announced the selection of Joseph J. Tharp as the new Camp Ranger for Camp Rock Enon. Mr. Tharp replaced Kirby Hepner as Ranger at the 800 acre facility owned and operated by the Shenandoah Area Council. Mr. Hepner had served as Camp Ranger for the past 14 years.
Mr. Tharp, his wife and three sons are now residing at the Camp.
Current programs involved at Camp Rock Enon include weekend unit camping of approximately three to five Scout Troops each weekend. The month of April will see a Boy Scout Leaders Outdoor Training and Showando program on the weekend of April 23-25, Philmont Expedition Training weekend on April 17th-18th, and Summer Camp Staff Orientation weekend April 17-18. In addition to these projects, Mr. Tharp is engaged in preparation of improvement of facilities for the upcoming summer camp season which will show a total of over 1200 Scouts in attendance. The Shenandoah Area Council is a participating agency of the United Givers Fund of Berkeley County, W. Va., Inc.; Front RoyalWarren County United Fund and Winchester-Frederick County United Fund.
