Russell Thackrey asked that Route 681 from 707 to a dead end be added to the system and H. S. Barksdale suggested that Route 629 in Bean Hollow be stabilized using rock from the old fence on his property.
Mr. Skeens explained that road funds were allocated the various counties rather than requested by the counties, and allocation was made by a four-factor formula. Some citizens also seem surprised to learn that land and personal property taxes have nothing to do with how much could be spent on their roads. Rappahannock County has been allocated a total of $345,783 for its secondary road system for the July 1, 1971 to June 30, 1972 fiscal year.
