Infant Baptism
Charles Harris Platt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Platt of Annapolis, received the rites of Holy Baptism at St. James Episcopal Church, Warrenton, Va. on Sunday, April 4, 1971, with the Rev. David! Greer officiating. Godparents were Lynn Soos and Mr. and Mrs. A. Gervin, all of Chevy Chase, Md. and Mrs. Fred Drunagel of Winchester. The infant is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas G. Laing of Amissville and of Mr. and Mrs. James B. Platt of Chevy Chase. Following the service, Mr. and Mrs. Laing entertained members of the families with a luncheon.
L. Fairfax College
Plans Open House
Dr. William H. McCoy, president of Lord Fairfax Community College announced today that an “Open House” for all residents of the region served by the College would be held on Sunday, April 25, from 1 to 3 p.m. He said that the classrooms and laboratories would be open and that there would be displays in the electronics area, the automotive technology lab, the learning lab, the biological sciences, and the audio-visual area.
“Inasmuch as this is a community college, we would be pleased to have all the citizens of the region visit us on this Sunday to take a good look at their college. We want to emphasize that everyone is invited. Bring the children also,” McCoy said.
Students from the service clubs at the College will act as guides and hosts for the event. Refreshments will be served.
Political sub-divisions making up the region are: Counties of Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Page, Rappahannock, Shenan doah, and Warren, and the City ol Winchester.
