Panther Tales

R.C.H.S. was flying high Thursday when our baseball team won their first game of the season. Our Panters were victorious as they beat Elkton 8-1. Congratulations to such a wonderful Baseball team of which we can be proud! Sock it to them Panthers!!
The smell of apple pies have lingered the halls of R.C.H.S. this week. Many girls have been baking pies for the contest held annually for the Apple Blossom Festival. The six semi-finalists were Ginger Estes, Donna Roy, Janet Cloud, Deloris Gibbs, Janet Burke, and Debbie Jenkins. The winner was Deloris Gibbs who will represent us May 7 in Winchester. She will be in competition with girls all over the state.
The newly elected SCA officers were announced Thursday. These were Bill Kilby, President; Cassie Frye, Secretary; Greg Clark, Treasurer; and Buck Payne, Reporter; and Mike Anderson, Vice-President. We would like to thank the fine group of students who participated in the SCA elections this year.
A car wash will be held Saturday at the school from 10 o’clock until 3 o’clock. The price will be $2.00 a car. This money will be used for the Senior Trip so everyone come out and give your support. The Seniors are also busy working on the play. They have a real hit planned called “The Courtship of Eddie’s Father.”
The National Honor Society held a meeting Thursday to discuss the assembly to be held for the installation of new members. Cheerleading practice not only causes sore arms and legs but is a lot of fun. All of the girls showed much enthusiasm in learning new cheers for the tryouts to be held April 16.
A representative from the IBM Corporation, Mr. Robert A. Miller visited RCHS Tuesday. He gave various demonstrations on the IBM Products to the Seniors who were interested in this field.
