Edgar Kay Browning, sonfof Mr and Mrs. John S. Browning oi Flint Hill, was awarded a Ph.D degree from Princeton University on May 21. His dissertation was entitled “Income Redistributior and the Negative Income Tax: A Theoretical Analysis”.

Dr. Browning was a 1961 graduate of Rappahannock County High School and a 196J graduate, with highest distinction of the University of Virginia. He was the recipient of the Duncar Clark Hyde Memorial Award ir Economics. During his four years at the University of Virginia, Dr Browning was a consistent dean’s list student. His scholastic achievements include election tc Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Eta Sigma and Intermediate Honors. He was awarded a Woodrow Wilsor fellowship for graduate study. While at Princeton he was the recipient of a National Science Foundation Fellowship and t Princeton University Fellowship Dr. Browning has spent the pasi two years as Acting Assistan Professor of Economics at the University of Virginia, and wil continue his association there nexi session.
