Ballots Due in
Wool Referendum
Rappahannock County Wool producers, who are eligible to vote in the market promotion program but haven’t yet cast their ballots are urged to do so before the June 18 deadline by H. S. Barksdale, Chairman of the Rappahannock County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation (ASC) Committee.
An eligible voter is one who has owned sheep 6 months of age or older for at least 30 consecutive days during 1970.
Ballots may be cast by mailing them to the County ASCS Office or by voting at the county office.
The ASCS Committee Chairman emphasized that the referendum will not affect the wool payment itself, which has been extended by law through 1973. The voting will determine whether growers will finance wool and lamb market-promotion activities through deductions from the wool payments they receive through the next three years.
