The Fourth of July celebration at the Library will get under way at 1:00 p.m. with an abundant lunch prepared and served by the ladies of Hopewell Baptist Church. The Musical Pageant and games will follow. During the entire afternoon there will be exhibits and demonstration of local crafts in the library. Red Smith, “The Candy Man” will be on hand with his red candy apple making machine with the apples being donated by C. E. Johnson, jr.
Interest Growing In
Raritan Contest
Interest is growing in the “Uncle Sam” and “Miss Liberty” contest which will be held Saturday, July 3 in conjunction with the Independence Day Celebration sponsored by the Amissville Ruritan Club. A parade and speaker will precede the annual pit-cooked beef barbecue served at this time by the Ruritans.
Invitation to the parade have been issued the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy chapters in Culpeper, and to the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion and Boy Scout groups from various localities.
