Efforts of the Washington Fire Department and Rappahannock Rescue Squad have been hampered by inclement weather as these volunteer groups prepared for and opened the annual fund raising carnival at Washington, Va. last night. However, the group continues with plans as a promise of better conditions is in sight.

Holiday Parade?
A Fourth of July parade sponsored by the Rappahannock Historical Society is scheduled to follow the Independence Day celebration in Washington, Va. on July 4 at Rappahannock Library, provided enough interest is shown in this activity. Tentative plans are for the parade to be staged at the grounds of the old elementary school and proceed from there at 6 p.m. The parade committee wishes to hear from anyone who has old or antique items such as spinning wheels and old-time clothing which can be used in making floats and costumes.
