RAPPAHANNOCK CATTLEMEN have made a habit of producing the top performing bulls at the annual Performance Tested B.C.l.A. Bull Sale and this year was no exception. Ninety-one bulls sold for a total of $95,980 or for an average of $1,054. Fifty-eight Angus bulls sold for $61,870 and averaged $1,066 per head.
Of the top 20 bulls sold, terf were from Rappahannock. The top selling bull was an Alpine Farm’s consignment that sold for $4,000. Ned Johnson’s Wye bred bull was purchased by White Hall Farm ® for the second highest sale price of $3,650. James Cannon’s Elevate bull ranked fourth in the sale and sold to American Breeders for $2,300. Randall Updike’s Bardolimere bull, with Elevate breeding on the dam’s side, ranked fifth in sale price and sold for $1,700. Two good Hereford bulls were purchased from this sale by Herbert Barksdale and H.L. Manwaring.
