BY THE TIME this appears in print the month of February will be history, but I’ve heard so many unfavorable remarks about it 1 wanted to say a few words in it’s defense. Some have called it Febru-weary, some say it is a short month because God saw it was such a bad month. Gen. 1:14 has this to say about it: “And God said ‘Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and for seasons, and for days and years:’” When He threw this flaming orb out into space add set it spinning on its orbit around our sun, the ftrst spin was the first day, approximately 365 days later the first, year. This month comes from the old Roman Februanus, month of purification. It seems that a month was dedicated to cleansing for the New Year which came at the time of the vernal equinox. Imagine taking a month to purify themselves, to make themselves more worthy of a new year. Modern times? February 'gave us two of our greatest presidents.
