Members of Hopewell Baptist Church, Sperryville, catered to the surge of hungry visitors who stood in line for a plate lunch which included fried chicken. Youngsters hopped impatiently on first one foot and then the other as they clamored for a hot dog or hamburger simmering on the grill.
One of the busiest stalls was the book and record nook where readers browsed or collectors rummaged, and treasures were found by some.
All in all, it appeared that most people attending the flea market and patriotic celebration were happy with the results, as well they might. And as exhausted as we know all the volunteers are, we’re already looking forward to the next year. □
