“Only eggs and fry less than two weeks old are ususually lost in these strong currents,” said Fisheries Field Coordinator Ray Corning, “and most stream fishes should have spawned early enough for their young to have escaped harm with the possible exception of some late spawning river largemouth bass. Other fish are sometimes washed downstream but quickly redistribute themselves when waters return to normal. Streams and lakes will be surveyed during the next few weeks to more precisely assess possible fishery damage.”
