He comes from a family of ministers. His grandfather, father and three brothers are all in the ministry. Prior to entering the service of the church, he was employed with the Department of Defense.
Mr. Maples is apparently well traveled for he is married to the former Rose T. Scherping who is a native of Minnesota and they met in Seattle, Wash. They have two sons, Malcolm Jr. a law student at American University, who was born in Boston, Mass, and Edward, a native Virginian, now studying art at Holden Art School in Charlottesville. □
