He was a lifelong farmer and was a member for 50 years of the Masonic Lodge No. 78 of Washington and the Hiram Royal Arch Chapter 45. He was also a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.
Surviving are three brothers, Robert S. Bruce and Bennie R. Bruce of Front Royal, and William B. Bruce of Overhill, N.C.; three sisters, Mrs. Annie B. Griffith of Bailey’s Crossroads, Mrs. Virginia B. Trotter of North Hollywood Cal., and Mrs. Nina B. Brown of Sperryville. C
