NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP COUNTRY MUSIC Time is approaching again, and once again the sponsoring Warrenton-Fauquier Jaycees have arranged a full schedule for the two days of pickin' and singin’ at Lake Whipporwill.
Dates for the 22nd annual contest are Saturday, August 5, and Sunday, August 6. Saturday, the fun starts at 3 p.m.; Sunday, the starting time is 2 p.m.
Special guest stars — playing during breaks in the competition, and on other occasions — will be Don Gibson on Saturday night, and the Stoneman Family on Sunday.
A total of $2,500 in prize money is offered to winning contestants.
Lake Whippoorwill is located just off Route 29211, north of Warrenton. “Camping in the rough” will be available at a modest fee.' □
