Isolated male moths have been trapped in neighboring counties during the past two summers. Presently, we do not know if the moth infests areas of the state or if this is a result of artificial transfer by man. The general consensus I believe is that the moth has established itself in certain areas and therefore it is necessary to pin point these locations and initiate a control program before the moth population builds to damaging proportion.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture in coopera-'tion with the Virginia Division of Forestry and other agencies are placing traps as close as practical to one-mile intervals in order to detect the presence of this moth.
