Two vehicles were involved in a wreck near Woodville though neither touched the other until both went over an embankment. This one put a little variety into the traffic patrol business, according to the investigating officer W.A. Buntin.
At 5:30 October 19 on Route 522 a mile eastof Woodville Charlie William Hitt in a 66 Ford pickup and Franklin Campbell Hitt in a 61 Oldsmobile were both traveling east on the highway.
Franklin Hitt attempted to pass Charlie Hitt, lost control of his auto, skidded across the road in front of the pickup and plunged down the bank on the right side of the road.
Charlie Hitt applied his brakes to avoid Franklin as he skidded across the road in front of him and ran down the right embankment also, striking the Olds. Damage to the pickup was estimated at $500 and at $250 to the Oldsmobile. Franklin Hitt was cited for reckless driving.
