SOIL SAMPLES — There are a number of good reasons for taking soil samples this time of year. First you avoid the spring rush in the Soil Testing Laboratory. Having your soil sample results early provides ample time to plan fertilizer and lime„ purchases and to take advantage of possible fall price reductions. Also, you can have lime and in some cases fertilizer spread at a time when commercial applicators are looking for business.
POUR ON TREATMENT FOR GRUB AND LICE CONTROL — 1972 has been a good year for beef producers. If there has been a time in the past twenty years when top management will return extra dividends, it’s now. Let’s keep concentrating on securing good performance tested bulls, well planned breeding programs - both cross breeding and straight, cow-calf identification and production records, disease and parasite control, and improving forage programs.
