Race track in Loudoun?
THE LEGISLATURE’S SPECIAL STUDY committee on pari-mutuel horse racing has formally recommended establishment of two tracks in the state — one in the Tidewater area, and one in Northern Virginia.
State Delegate William Murphy, who represents both Loudoun and Prince William, says he has received indications that Loudoun might be interested in having one of the tracks. Fromwhathe has heard, Prince William is not.
Murphy also said it was his impression that Fauquier would also not be interested, but at least one Fauquier official differed with this view.
Murphy said he would favor establishing horse race tracks in Virginia "if 100 percent of the money from racing goes for schools.” This would be one way real estate taxes might be relieved, he thought.
