“The thistles, which are responsible for crowding the grazing fields of cattle in Virginia, enjoy unrepressed growth without native controlling agents,” James M. Grayson, head of Virginia Tech’s department of entomology, said.
“The equipment for supporting the propagation of imported insects will be housed in a biological control quarantine laboratory at Virginia Tech, which is one of two such labs under university control in the United States,” Grayson said.
