Robert L. (Jock) Brown has announced his resignation as treasurer of Rappahannock County, effective February 28. An appointment will be made by |he local Circuit Court judge for a replacement to complete the unexpired term of the treasurer.

Judge R. V. Snead will be at his office in the courthouse in Washington on Wednesday, January 31 at 2 p.m. to hear anyone who wishes to make a recommendation for a succtssor.

That person appointed will assume the duties of the treasurer until the next general election which is this fall. At that time the voters of the county will select a treasurer.

Brown, in announcing his resignation, issued the following statement addressed “to the citizens of Rappahannock”:
