You have covered the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors meetings for many years.During this period I feel we developed a feeling of mutual respect. This makes me realize that the “For Sale?” editorial in your last paper was written by someone other than yourself.
I feel confident that you know that this Board is not now, nor never has been for sale. Such implications are both irresponsible and harmful as they tend to destroy the confidence of the people in their elected officials for no apparent reason other than the writer disagrees with us on this particular issue. You also know that the Board is very careful to insure that the taxpayers money is carefully s£ent.
Please let me try to explain why I feel our board voted 4-1 to join Planning District 9.
In 1969 Virginia was divided into 22 planning districts including all of the state. As of our last board meeting all of the Planning Districts in Virginia had been organized but ours. Rappahannock by not joining would not affect the Planning District concept in the state of Virginia at all, and would only serve to penalize the majority of the people in Rappahannock county. | |
