SATURDAY, September 29, as the morning mists rose from Fletcher’s Thornton Hill bottom, Huntsman Jimmie Dodson gathered his pack of foxhounds around his horse’s heels, sounded his mellow cowhorn and trotted off toward Mason Mountain. This traditional Fall scene initiated the first day of cubbing of the Rappahannock Hunt’s 1973-74 foxhunting season.
