IT’S LOVELY ALL YEAR long in Rappahannock County, but for many residents—and visitors— it’s the autumn of the year that holds a special charm.

The leaves are just now beginning to turn, apples and cider are everywhere, there’s a special crispness In the air of a moring and an evening, and no matter what the cold months to follow may bring, right now it’s marvelous. ' And isn’t it particularly marvelous that we’re able to live with Rappahannock’s beauty in all seasons of the year? Pity the poor “foliage fools,” as one county resident used to call them, or “leaf people,” who only come rushing up once a year, gasp at the colors, and then drive just as frantically back to the city. They may be spiritually renewed by the brief experience, but think of the infinitely greater satisfaction enjoyed by people able to stay here—who don’t have to drive back to a city or suburb! . *
