RAPPAHANNOCK STEERS TOP MARYLAND STATE FAIR—Feeder calves purchased last fall from county beef cattlemen, Randall Updike, Newbill Miller, Dick Latham and Jim Massie; and fed and shown by Maryland 4-H Club members made an impressive showing at the Maryland State Fair.
In strong competition that averaged more than 20 steers per class with a total of about 180 steers Randall Updike’s crossbred Angus-Hereford steer was selected Grand Champion and Newbill Miller’s Angus steer Reserve Grand Champion of the entire show.- Dick Latham and Jim Massie had steers placing in the top 2Q% of their classes in very stiff competition.
