These cuts could mean that state aid to localities would be less than anticipated earlier. The House of Delegates could, however, vote to restore any or all of these cuts.
Some specific areas that will have reduced funding should the proposed budget cuts go through are:
1. The State Board requests a personal ratio of 50 professional staff members for 1,000 students in average daily membership. At the present time there are some 53.5 professional instructional staff per 1000 students. Governor Holton’s proposal would provide funding for only 48 pei* 1000.
