MOST OF Pullen’s installation and repair work is done in the Warrenton area, he said. “I have my answering service there, but I could keep busy here if people only knew me. But they don’t.”
Pullen has a permit for a home shop, not a commercial business. ‘‘I keep some supplies there at the house but I try to keep it hidden from the road. I don’t keep my place sloppy. I just load up there when I leave in the morning. I’m not trying to run a business from there.”
H. L. Manwaring, a member of the Appeals Board, asked Pullen if he sold his fixtures to customers at his house. *
‘‘If someone tells me their water heater is busted I’ll sell them one, Pullen said. “But I don’t drag people: in to sell to them over the counter.* I don’t fool with the sales tax or anything’.: All my shop is ; really u&ed for is storage.”

THE APPEALS Board members wanted to know if those who opposed the sign had any complaints about Pullen’s home shop.
“None at all,” BillKiem said. “Mr. Pullen has kept his shop and home neat and tasteful. My objection is to the sign.”
