The game with Page Tuesday night ended the basketball season for RCHS this year. The high school was packed and basketball tickets were sold out. It was an exciting game but after a valiant effort towards the end the Panthers were defeated 70-61. Saturday night we played an away basketball game with Stonewall Jackson. It was very close but in the end we lost by only 2 points. The final score for the Varsity game was 54-52. The J.V.’s put forth a lot of effort but were defeated by only a few points also. The Junior Varsity game ended with a score of 53-50.
We’ll be losing an outstanding player this year. Harry Jordon played his last game as part of the Rappahannock Panthers Tuesday night. During his 5 years at RCHS Harry scored around 1200 points and recovered over 1000 rebounds.
Mr. Douglas will continue coaching the basketball team next year. He is planning to have a winning team and starting line-up for the varsity will consist mainly of Juniors. Many J.V.’s will move up to Varsity for next season.
