FRIDAY’S snow storm accounted for several skidding crashes on Rappahannock roads, according to Trooper W.A. Buntin who reported the following: At 4 p.m. on Route 622 a mile west of Washington, a 73 Volkswagen operated by Michael Patrick Carasco of Beltsville, Md. and a 68 Rambler driven by Luther Junior Derby III of Washington, Va. collided.
Derby’s vehicle skidded on an icy curve and struck the other car. Damage was estimated at $400 and $300 to Carrasco and Derby, respectively. No injuries resulted.
Thirty-five minutes later a single vehicle crash occurred on Route 211 a half mile west of Sperryville. Calvin Joseph Atkins of Sperryville skidded on ice, went off the left of the road and hit a post. Damage was set at $400.
At 8:45 a second crash occurred in the same vicinity. Danny Ray Baldwin of Sperryville driving a 68 Plymouth skidded on ice, struck a bridge abutment. He sustained lacerations of the lip ^nd a rib injury. Damage was estimated at $600.
