A PUBLIC hearing arranged by the Department of Highways to discuss proposed plans for rebuilding about eight miles of U.S. 211 in Rappahannock County — including the segment through Sperryville— will be held at 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in the Sperryville Fire Hall.
Proposals presented by the department at this hearing will not include the option of building a bypass around Sperryville on Route 211 which, when first advocated by the depa *tment drew intense opposition from a group of citizens.
A public hearing on the location plans for construction on Route 211 in Sperryville was held in 1970. At this hearing, plans were presented for upgrading and widening the road on its existing location. No action came following this hearing.
