saw Deep Run playing Rappahannock’s Billy Fannon (substituting for last minute cancellation threegoal handicap Bobby Rawlings), Jack Eicher, and Buzz Rogers— a four-goal handicap trio. Their third period saw little change in the pace of the game, with Deep Run chewing up Rappahannock to the tune of Rick Staples’s one and Daddy Ed’s two goals against Rappahannock Billy Fannon’s one.
But, in the fourth period a goal by Buzz Rogers and another by Billy Fannon at the end of the consistent, quick, pressing drives by Jack Eicher, while Deep Run was: blanked, left the period’s scoring 2-0 Rappahannock. So Rappahannock and Deep Run finished tied 3-3. Again Deep Run won on handicap.
The came the torrential rains, authoritatively erasing the final third of the round robin in which Middleburg and Rappahannock would have determined the place and show payoffs in the tourney already won by Deep Run.
