Lana reappraisals
to be mailed soon
THE LOCAL BOARD of Tax Assessors, chaired by Robert P. Anderson of Woodville, reported Wednesday that the reappraisal of real estate in Rappahannock will be completed soon. He said that notices of the reappraisal will be mailed to landowners in the near future. -
Included in the notice will be the assessed value of the property, which is based on 15% of the fair market value as determined by a State Appraiser. The former assessed value was 20% of the fair market value.
These figures produced by the State Appraiser have been gone over and “equalized” by a Board, composed of Rappahannock landowners, one from each magisterial district. This Board is made up of Robert P. Anderson, Hampton, chairman; H.S. Barksdale, Flint Hill, Wakefield; Charlie Compton, Amissville, Jackson; Helen Kilby, Sperryville, Piedmont; Walter Masterson, Woodville, Stonewall.
Notices mailed to landowners will contain the time and place property owners may meet with the local board to discuss their reappraisals. □
