RAPPAHANNOCK’S planning commissioners have ihet twice in the last week with Donald Weil, trying to determine the specifics of Weil’s plans to develop the Rappahannock Ski Area into an all-year resort, but they have made no recommendations.

Weil had applied earlier this month to the county Board of Zoning Appeals for a use permit in order to place “recreational vehicles” or camper trailers on the ski area property. The Zoning Appeals Board did not turn him down, but asked that he resubmit his application under a different provision of the county zoning ordinance. This would give the county more control over the camper trailer aspect of the new development, as well as other site plan matters, such as screening, location of parking areas and roads, drainage, water supply and sanitary facilities.

The Zoning Appeals Board has asked the Planning Commission to act as a fact finding body, to help them obtain the information necessary for making a decision on the use permit request.
