Rustling charged
JOSEPH AND LOIS SMITH of Woodville have been arrested and charged with larceny of livestock in Rappahannock. The pair, man and wife, alledgedly stole livestock from Miss Florence Settle of Castleton. According to Trooper J. A. Watson, the Smiths took the animals from the Settle farm July 16 and attempted to sell them at the Fauquier Livestock Exchange at Marshall. The officer also said they had recovered two more animals which were taken from the property of Peter Labovitz at Sperryville.
The Smiths were taken before Magistrate Peter Kramer who released them on their own recognizance. They will appear in Rappahannock General District Court tomorrow, Friday.
The Smith’s truck used for the transportation of the cattle was confiscated by the State Officers. Trooper G. F. Gregory assisted in the investigation which continues.
Sam Sisk of Sperryville has been charged with cattle larceny by the local Sheriff’s Department and was released on property bond.
