VIRGINIA’S Farm Bureau is on record in favor of adopting in this state the New York innovation of agricultural districts, as a means of keeping large blocs of farmland in production and off the development market. At a meeting in Warrenton last Wednesday night (August 13), Farm Bureau directors from Fauquier, Loudoun, Warren, Page, Madison, Clarke, Spotsylvania and Culpeper Counties had an opportunity to hear details of how the system might work, and to ask questions.
As with any innovative land use measure—the confusion and miscomprehension which first greeted land use tax relief several years ago is a case in point—the Farm Bureau officials were interested, but uncertain. They want more information; they want more time to think about it.
