WITH the closing of the Amiss - ville Firemen’s carnival Saturday night, prize winners were named. Mrs. Ethel Hopkins of Front Royal received the $1000 cash prize, with Bob Zollinger of Warrenton getting the $500 cash. Five $25 Savings Bonds went to A.C. Corbin of Culpeper, Mrs. Judi Graham, Bristow, Early Sisk, Sperryville, Carlin Lee, Washington, Va. and Billy Thompson, Warrenton.
In last Thursday’s parade the South End. Winchester Fire Department was judged the best appearing and equipped company from a town of over 500 population and Orange received second in that category. Brandy Station was first in a town under 500 population and
New Baltimore received second.
The apparatus coming the longest distance was Colonial Beach which also had the best appearing fire company and men in the lineup. The oldest motorized equipment was that of Chester Gap.
