People getting monthly social security payments should notify the Social Security Administration now if they plan to move soon, according to Philip E. Bettendorf, social security district manager in Winchester.
“Prompt notice will help assure delivery of your social security check to your new address without delay or interruption,’’ Bettendorf said. A move can be reported on the change-of-address form printed on the back of the envelope in which the social security check is delivered. “Or you can call, write, or visit any social security office,’’ Bettendorf said.
The report should include both your old and new address—including ZIP codes—as well as the social security claim number that appears on your social security checks, he said.
