RAPPAHANNOCK tennis enthusiasts would not be outdone by the daily deluge during the holiday weekend and the 25th Annual Labor Day Invitational Handicap Mixed Doubles Whistle Cup Rappahannock County Tennis Tournament was completed ahead of time. Victors were Avery Faulkner and Cindy Bow.
Forty-two players plus a gallery trouped to the Chestnut Forks Tennis Club near Warrenton Sunday evening to compete. With the weather outlook dismal, arrangements were made early that morning to reserve the indoor courts for 6 p.m. Sunday, and so the tournament began. It continued until about midnight.
