As most of us know, the Virginia State Department of Education has stated all school districts must have Kindergarten by 1976. If Rappahannock County, does notpresent an acceptable Kindergarten program, we could be “fined” as much as $33,000. In Rappahannock, we are fortunate to have a School Board which acts with deliberation so our taxes are not increased without a careful weighing of the consequences, but it is doubtful the extended summer program, in an unair-conditioned building, will fullfill the needs of our five-yearolds.
As a parent who has elected not to send my child to even a private Kindergarten this year because he would have been one of the 4 1/2 years olds entering Kindergarten, I could not agree more with Mrs. Lyne regarding the long exhausting
