The legislature has consistently rejected these amendments and this year I am proposing an amendment to the required standards which would make clear that localities could provide for a kindergarten program in the summer. This would enable some of the rural counties to have halfday kindergarten classes and to better handle the transportation and organization of the kindergarten program.
